Upstate Shredding and Weitsman Recycling LLC, a division of Weitsman Family of Companies, the East Coasts Largest Privately Held Scrap Metal Processor, is currently looking for General Laborers at our location in Owego, NY.
One Great Company Starting Pay of $17.

Position Overview:
Inspecting inbound scrap metal to ensure highest quality.
Directing traffic as needed.
Sort and process materials according to their metal components.
Lead efforts to provide a best in class customer experience.
Use a variety of hand tools and machines such as forklifts, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws and pressure washers.
Assist with maintenance department, and operators when needed.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Work safely and maintain work area/equipment.
Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Safety/OSHA guidelines and adherence for your safety and others.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
Must have the willingness to go the extra mile learning the scrap metal recycling industry.
Metals knowledge preferred, but not required.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, work independently and multitask.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Flexible to work off hours, overtime and weekends, in an industrial environment which may include being outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
Must be willing to cross-train in various positions, be self-motivated, possess good work ethics and have the ability to work with a team.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen test, background check and fit-for-duty test if needed.
Safety:
This position requires the following personal protective equipment be worn at all times:
Safety glasses.
Head protection.
Hard toe work boots.
High visibility safety vest.
Other protective equipment as required.
