Lockheed Martin is seeking a Quality Engineer for a position in Owego, NY to support the Naval Helicopter Program. This position will involve: non-conforming material hardware evaluations, MBR industry standard dispositions, causal analyzes, and able to facilitate corrective / preventive action planning/execution. The position requires mechanical or quality engineering rotary platform experience developing and reviewing quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured and procured products. Reviews documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure quality products are delivered to the customer. Ability to analyze and resolve process issues varying from basic to very complex. Participates as an active member of Material Review Boards and Reliability Boards which includes dispositioning non-conforming assets, identifying asset containment requirements, identifying appropriate root cause and corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence. Performs assessments and audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures, 8210 and ISO-9001/AS9100. Evaluate the design assurance activities and implementation of production process methodology to prevent impacts to production velocity and quality. Interfaces with internal and external customers, suppliers and program personnel on quality related issues. Utilizes lean initiatives to reduce waste and maintain continuous improvement. Consider to be an emerging authority.
Basic Qualifications:
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Able to interpret drawings and specifications to develop and apply quality test and inspection methods and able to translate into work instruction
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contracts that will enable development and review of QE processes and related performance metrics
Demonstrated ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex
Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration
Effective communication skills: written, oral, listening and technical writing
Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Demonstrated presentation skills
Experience in establishing performance metrics for identifying process improvement
Desired Skills:
Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
SAP application experience
AS9100 Interpretation and application experience
Experience working with Government customers (DCMA, PMA, NAVAIR, Fleet Naval appointees)
Knowledge of configuration and data management
Knowledge of DOD and Industry recognized Quality Systems Standards
